Abracon Introduces Precision Wide Operating Temperature TCXOs in 5.0 x 7.0mm Footprint

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (December 17, 2013) - A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its AST3TQ series of precision, -55°C to +95°C, Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators.

"The AST3TQ series of Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators is available from 10MHz to 40MHz carrier frequencies with LVCMOS output, offering ±500 ppb frequency stability over -55°C to +95°C," explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering at Abracon Corporation.

"These devices comply with Stratum-III stability of ±4.60ppm all inclusive error over a 20-year product life. Abracon Introduces 1.50GHz High Performance TCXO/VCTCXO in 9.0 x 7.0mm Footprint

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (December 17, 2013) - A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its ASGTX series of factory configurable, high performance fixed and voltage controlled crystal oscillators.

"The ASGTX series of Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators is factory configurable to any frequency between 10MHz and 1.50GHz with differential output and 10MHz to 250MHz with LVCMOS output, offering ±1.00 ppm frequency stability over -30°C to +70°C," explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering at Abracon Corporation.

"These devices are designed with internal pre-bias on the control port, enabling the end-user to employ them as either an XO or a VCTCXO. ASGTX is the only available temperature compensated solution in a miniature 9.0x7.0mm footprint that offers precise RF output, as high as 1.50GHz. With typical phase noise of -117 dBc/Hz @ 1MHz offset at 1.50GHz carrier, yields a typical RMS jitter of 1.55ps over 12kHz to 20MHz Bandwidth," continues Raza.

Abracon Releases AWCCA Series Offering Eleven New Designs of Wireless Charging CoilsGHZ Crystal Osciallators

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (December 16, 2013) -A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control, magnetic and RF components, Abracon Corporation introduces its new range of wireless charging coils comprising the AWCCA-38R32, AWCCA-48R32, AWCCA-50N50, AWCCA-53N53 and AWCCA-107T52 series.

In line with its pursuit of developing high technology products, Abracon has launched this new range of wireless charging coils, offering a broad range of standard sizes, including: 38.5 x 32.5 x 0.9mm, 48.5 x 32.5 x 1.1mm, 50.0 x 50.5 x 3.5mm, 50.0 x 50.5 x 4.0mm, 50.0 x 50.5 x 5.0mm, 53.0 x 53.5 x 5.0mm and 107.0 x 52.0 x 4.0mm. Abracon Releases the AMCA Series of High Performance, Multilayer Chip Antennas in Six Different Sizes in Low Profile Packaging

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (November 19, 2013) - A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control, magnetic and RF components, Abracon Corporation introduces its new range of chip antennas comprising of AMCA31, AMCA52, AMCA62, AMCA72, AMCA81 and AMCA92 series.

In-line with its pursuit of high technology products, Abracon has launched its 3.2x1.6mm, 5.2x2.1mm, 6.0x2.0mm, 7.0x2.0mm, 8.0x1.0mm and 9.0x2.0mm multilayer ceramic packaged chip antennas; explains Dean Clark, Senior Technical Manager at Abracon Corporation. "These solutions provide a low cost, low profile, high performance option for wireless equipment, smart phone and WLAN manufacturers working in the 2275MHz to 3110MHz frequency range", continued Mr. Clark

The AMCA series of chip antennas offer peak gains from +3dBi to 0.5dBi, with bandwidths from 90MHz to 200MHz, depending on the antenna dimensions. The employed multilayer technology provides a very low profile (1.0 ~ 1.2mm) & lightweight range of chip antennas, suitable for space constrained applications. This varied range of package offering enables designers to exploit excellent gain and directivity performance, dependent on the package size.

AMCA devices are designed for applications covering ISM bands, WiFi, Bluetooth and Zigbee at 2.4GHz, China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) at 2635 to 2660MHz, and other IMT bands (2.3 ~ 2.4GHz and 2.5 ~ 2.69GHz) used by WLAN.

The AMCA antennas also cover portions of the WiMax (IEEE-802.16) bands that operate globally between 2 to 11GHz (3.5GHz in Europe) for Fixed WiMax and 2 to 6GHz for Mobile WiMax, in addition to several LTE TDD bands.

These antennas offer a VSWR of <2:1 across the entire operating range, and are designed to match into 50 ohms on the end-application PCB. Matching is achieved using capacitors and/or inductors via a simple -type circuit, extending great flexibility to system designers.

Abracon Real Time Clocks Keep Time Through Power Outages

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (October 29, 2013) - A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation has expanded its product line with AB08XX GHZ Crystal Osciallatorsand AB18XX real time clocks that can maintain power throughout an outage. The new Abracon AB08XX and AB18XX ultra-low power real time clock families require so little power to operate that in the event of a power failure, the energy stored in an inexpensive, 100°F ceramic capacitor will keep the complete chip operating for up to two hours. In addition to highly accurate timekeeping, the tiny capacitor fully powers optional on-chip memory, and continues to operate countdown timers, watchdog timers, alarms and all other chip functions. In many applications, system designers can now replace supercapacitors with inexpensive ceramic capacitors for several hours of time backup. When longer backup times are required, designers can take advantage of much smaller supercapacitors and batteries to reduce system costs. For example, a 90mF supercapacitor will fully power the Abracon RTC for over 90 days.

The low-cost AB08XX and AB18XX with power management families are perfect for product designs where maintaing accurate time is a requirement, even in the event of a short- or long-term power failure. Typical applications include keeping network time in communications devices, allowing time backup in smart meters and sensor networks, and preserving time and critical application data when replacing the battery in consumer medical devices. For highly accurate (2 ppm) time backup at only 55nA of power, these real time clocks can use a high quality crystal, such as the ESR-matched Abracon ABS06-107-32.768KHz crystal, in a small 2.0mmx1.3mmx0.6mm SMT package, as a frequency source. When high accuracy is not essential, designers can take advantage of the RTCs' internal RC clock that requires only 15nA of current for complete chip operation. These full-featured real time clocks contain a superset of legacy RTC properties, including a flexible output clock generator, 0.01 second counter and a configurable countdown timer. The AB18XX family also includes a sophisticated system power management capability that can power gate the MCU, radio and other system components for maximum energy savings during sleep mode.

Ambiq Micro Announces Strategic Channel Partnership With Abracon for New ULP Real Time Clock Product Family

Worldwide availability of the industry's lowest power RTC family through Abracon and its distributors
Ambiq Micro, developer of the world's lowest power Real Time Clock products, today announced a strategic channel partnership with Abracon Corporation. This partnership will enable Abracon to sell and distribute the newly launched family of Ambiq Micro ultra-low power RTC devices both directly as well as through their global distribution channel. Major distributors include Avnet, DigiKey, Future, Mouser, Newark, WPG, Sager and other major distributors worldwide.

The Ambiq Micro AM08XX and AM18XX Real Time Clock families are the lowest power RTC devices available in the industry with current requirements almost 10X lower than the closest competitor (as low as 14nA at 3V and 12nA at 1.8V). The new full-featured RTC families are the first commercial products to be based on Ambiq Micro's SPOT ultra-low power design platform.

The AM08XX product line brings a host of advanced system timing functions not found in today's traditional RTC products. The AM18XX contains all of the timing functions found in the AM08XX product line and also integrates a number of innovative system power management features.

Abracon to Launch New Web Site

Abracon Releases ACMF-03 and ACMF-04 Series of High Performance Common Mode Filters with Low Profile (0.50mm in height) Package

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (June 27, 2013) - A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its ACMF-03 and ACMF-04 series GHZ Crystal Osciallatorsof Thin Film Common Mode Filters.

"The high cutoff frequency and efficient common mode noise suppression ability of ACMF ensures signal integrity when used in high-speed interfaces, making it an ideal choice for devices with high signal transfer speeds," explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering for Abracon.

The ACMF-03 and ACMF-04 devices are currently available in 30ohm, 53ohm or 90ohm impedance in a low profile (0.88 x 0.68 x 0.50mm or 1.25 x 1.00 x 0.50mm respectively), low cost, RoHS compliant and lead-free SMD package. Developed by Abracon's engineering team, this device can significantly suppress common mode noise in the range from several hundred MHz to 2.5GHz, while reaching a wide bandwidth of 5 to 6 GHz for differential signals.

The ACMF series utilizes a thinner, lighter, miniaturized package, along with increased characteristic impedance and widened bandwidth, this solution features the removal of unwanted noise without affecting high-speed signal waveforms.

Standard applications of the ACMF series include: common mode noise suppression of differential signal lines in high-speed digital equipment such as MIDI interface for smart phones, USB 2.0/3.0, IEEE1394, LVDS, HDMI displays, DVI, digital cameras and scanners; digital audio and video equipment such as PDA, DSC, DVC, and DVD players; and applications requiring a high frequency, low noise, low cost, small profile SMT solution.

Abracon Introduces 4pF-Plated Tuning Fork Crystal for Ultra-low Power RTC Applications

"Housed in a space saving 2.0 x 1.2 x 0.6mm SMT package, the ABS06-107-32.768kHz-T device offers a guaranteed maximum ESR of 80kΩ, while plated at a 4pF effective load. Low power RTC applications with amplifier transconductance of less than 3µA/V will exhibit exceptional oscillator loop margin, while keeping timing precision," explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering at Abracon.

Continues Raza, "The ABS06-107-32.768kHz-T electrodes are optimized to lower the in-circuit load sensitivity, while providing a higher unloaded 'Q' than any competitor's device in the market and are being developed in cooperation with ST Micro and is qualified on the STM32L1, F2 and F4 Reference Designs".

With a standard operating temperature range of -40C to +85C, this low cost precision crystal is ideal for systems requiring ultra-low power consumption. Abracon Releases APAE Series of Passive Patch Antennas

The APAE series of Passive Patch Antennas provides a low cost system level solution for GPS, RFID, SDARS, and GLONASS based architectures.

• A Patch Antenna is a type of low profile radio antenna that is ideal for applications in which the antenna sits on a flat surface.
• Patch Antennas are flat, lightweight, inexpensive and easy to mount.
• Electrical connection with PCB is reached by soldering the silver pin through the hole on the PCB. Subsequently, the RF signal propagates through the PCB to excite the Patch Antenna.
• GPS and GLONASS Patch Antennas are commonly used in automotive navigation, cell phones and laptops. GLONASS, which is an alternative to the United States' GPS, is most popular in Russia.
• GPS Passive Patch Antennas are used when the GPS receiver's line-of- sight is blocked. For example, a car's windshield can block signals from reaching the GPS receiver. A Passive Patch Antenna placed atop the car can easily decipher the signals and transmit them to the GPS receiver.
• SDARS's (Satellite Digital Audio Radio Services) Patch Antenna is used in satellite radios such as Sirius Radio.
• RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) antennas operate using specific radio frequencies. In the United States, 915MHz is popular, while in Europe, 868MHz RFID Patch Antennas are utilized.
• Patch Antennas should be tuned to the ground-plane (PCB) on which they are mounted. Abracon offers an optimization service for the tuning of the standard Patch Antennas; customers should review the standard parts and then rely on Abracon in their NPI phase to optimize the solution and obtain a custom part number.

Abracon Introduces Low Cost, Ultra Low Noise XO's and VCXO's in 9 x 14mm Footprint

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA April 30, 2013) -A globally preferred, leading supplier of frequency control and magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its ABLNO series of Low Cost, Ultra Low Phase Noise Fixed and Voltage Controlled Oscillators.

"ABLNO series of XOs and VCXOs is targeted for Ultra Low Phase Noise requirements associated with satellite modem architectures and frequency upconverters into the K-Band. Other phase noise sensitive applications, including phase locked loops and RF transmitters, can take advantage of the exceptional close-to-the-carrier phase noise of the ABLNO series. With guaranteed phase noise performance of -155dBc at 10kHz offset from 100MHz carrier, these devices offer a lw cost precision solution for the RF designer," explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering at Abracon Corporation.

ABLNO devices will initially be offered at 80MHz, 100MHz, 125MHz and 156.25MHz. Additional frequencies are available upon request.

ABFT-Frequency Translator

ABFT Abracon has introduced its ABFT series of Frequency Translator / Jitter Attenuators, ideally suited to improve Jitter characteristics of the 10.0MHz input signal. This device is designed to provide input clock smoothing - while providing Phase and Frequency Locked higher frequency translated output.
Typical application will take a 10MHz reference frequency and phase and frequency lock it to either a 20MHz or a 40MHz Low Jitter VCXO. The implemented technology significantly attenuates the jitter content of the 10MHz reference signal; while keeping the higher frequency RF Output - Frequency and Phase Coherent with the input 10MHz reference signal.

Abracon Introduces Ultra Low Power Real-Time-Clock Integrated Circuits

The AB08XX and AB18XX series of RTC ICs are targeted for ultra low power, timekeeping applications where power consumption is of critical importance. Customers who seek sub 60nA total power consumption with complete RTC functionality will find this family of great value, explains Syed Raza, Director of Engineering at Abracon Corporation.

Both AB08XX and AB18XX devices are offered with either SPI or I2C interface with up to 256 bytes of on-board RAM.
